11 states don’t require 1/2 yr study in US civics, history or govt. Sheer ignorance of millions of Americans of basic tenets of US Constitution helped lead us here. If you don’t learn the Bill of Rights as a child you don’t know as an adult to be horrified when it’s under assault

And yet you still support the architect of both the Crime Bill & Patriot Act? I’m so confused.

The problem in this country is massive wealth inequality and the economic distress that it’s wreaking on the working class. Knowing what a piece of paper says that was written hundreds of years ago by slaveowners won’t change that. Come on Marianne, you know better than this.

The failure of the educational system is it doesn't encourage critical thinking, so as 2 make up 1's own mind. Would rather studies focus on reasoning, the steps involved, and that information is readily available on any subject of interest. Don't tell them what 2 think, but how.

The way it's taught makes a big difference in whether a student connects the bill of rights to themselves in a personal, meaningful way or if the bill of rights is something they read about in US civics, history or govt.

We ask our new citizens to study and learn about the History of this country ... BEFORE ... they can become a citizen ... but we don't require our native born citizens to learn anything about this country ...

Our education system is in dire straits! We need a paradigm shift in order to elevate us to a place where children’s gifts and strengths are fostered and the application of these strengthsabd gifts is the norm that propels them then on toward personal & professional success. 🙏
