Some on the right act as tho America has never done anything wrong & some on the left act as tho America has never done anything right. But they’re both wrong. It’s seeing that our history is a combination of the 2 that gives us the insight needed to fundamentally course-correct.

We learn from our past by honoring, respecting, and remembering it, OR we repeat it. Not one human on this planet has done only good things, we all make mistakes or have acted in unloving ways at times in our past. Trying to erase that leaves us a lesser shade of our Whole Being

Man, we're working on it. The history of this country has slim pickings (Wisconsin Progressives and Sewer Socialists, Haymarket, Stonewall, Civil Rights Era, Fair Housing Marches, AIDS March, Eugene V Debs, MLK, Occupy, Black Lives Matter) from which to learn.

America has been course correcting since its inception. It's not the first country with a problematic past but because of the progress made my parents went from rice paddies in Korea living through war to the suburbs of LA living comfortably though it's freaking hot this weekend

I have a musing that people vastly overestimate their ability to comprehend complex thoughts, so when they form a basic understanding of anything their pride or vanity compels them to believe they know everything. Any contradiction is reflexively rejected because not knowing
