No, neoliberalism is not “just as bad.” It is stupid. It is wrong. It is treacherous. It is fucked up. But. it. is. not. fascism.

What an obnoxious, privileged thing to say when you live with the consequences of neither. Go look at pictures of cluster bomb victims in Yemen, Syria, Libya and see if you come back with the same conclusion.

sure, there is a very solid (but limited) sense in which you are right. would you rather leave the door wide open to fascism, encouraging it to come in at any moment, or maybe slam the door shut? Neoliberalism is keeping the door wide open for fascism.

Fascism is an inevitable product of neoliberalism though. You’re right, they aren’t the same thing, but since we are aware of that inevitability we will have four years to prepare to defeat fascism and neoliberalism. We cannot allow neoliberalism to live.

Neoliberalism may not be fascism ... but the ownership class, all too often, is willing to support fascism.

Neoliberalism has pretty much killed democracy. It is rapidly killing the earth. It is reponsible for massive numbers of deaths in the MIC role. It is a destroyer of community & individual psyches. It is the primary evil of our time. It is leading to something akin to fascism.

It certainly is fascism when it is used by powerful nations on smaller nations to attempt to bend them to their will. neoliberalism uses the military, assassination, color revolutions, outright regime change, sanctions--all are forms of fascism.

Of course you are right, except the implementation of these policies results in fascism. What about cancel culture is not fascistic? As you get closer to the fringes, you just end up with result you do not want!

What we understand as neoliberalism is not actually neoliberalism in the scientific sense. What we mean is capitalism. Which btw is not the same as a market based economy. Capitalism breads fascism so they are indeed causally synonymous.

If we’re to the point where we’re discussing the levels of “bad” regarding our political choices haven’t we already lost the war? By the time we’ll be able to address any changes again I’ll be too old to participate. It’s frustrating 😢
