If and when we retake the White House, my biggest fear is that moderate policies will get us through one or two terms of slow growth and rapid stabilization, and result in a younger, more handsome, less orange, and far scarier Trump.

That might happen. But if he wins again, it will without a doubt happen. He will cut off our opportunities – much more than he is even doing now - to oppose his agenda going forward. This could be our last chance.
