Have most people who say “No he’s not a fascist” really read much about fascism? Have most people who say “No he isn’t like Hitler” really read much about Hitler? And have most people who underestimate the danger really read much about the Holocaust? When you do, it’s chilling.

Due to civic illiteracy, the only word most people have for "bad govt" or "bad leader" is "fascism". Trump is a run of the mill authoritarian. There's a reason that the entire Repub Party & the entire Dem Party are okay with giving Trump everything he wants.

The problem with hyperbolically comparing Donald Trump to Hitler is that it actually makes Trump easier to defend. While Trump is clearly awful, he is not THAT bad. There are better, more persuasive ways to critique Trump.

Historians are saying 45 is more like Mussolini than Hitler (due to connections w corporations, and probably other parallels I can’t recall). Anatomy of Fascism — excellent book on this subject

True fact: Biden supporters check every single point on Ecco’s 14 indicator of fascism every day. Far more than Trump supporters. e.g.:
Point 4 of Ecco’s 14 features of fascism: Disagreement is treason.

1 It should be taught like it used to be. My father's generation who lived it knew it was imperative to teach future generations the horrors. In 6th grade, i was taught how/why their democracy fell, how to recognize it & that it was our duty to speak out when others remain silent

I personally don't think that's the issue becaus I know American people at heart would never allow such a thing that you are implying here -if nothing else, but I'm keeping an open mind about it because you constantly bring this up and I respect your experience.
