Thank you @marwilliamson. All of this is true from the top all the way down. Even those suffering the most use this false idea of the American Dream to excuse the worst ideologies and praise the most morally bankrupt.

Concurred; been compromised and crumbling for about 4 decades now, (despite short term ups and downs), compliments of some shortsighted policies. Gotta turn it around now or else the undoing and remaking will take decades. And we have shown no patience for longterm commitments

We have been taught that an amoral economic system can do no harm. I fear that lesson has been learned too deeply in spite of all evidence to the contrary.
