Should it not be a prerequisite for the presidency that the person be a decent human being?

I say they need to go through rigorous vetting mentally, a personality check and how he gets along with others. Sounds like where talking about a child, well thats Donald!

Depending on which one is more important -- being able to do the work or being a decent human being. One would assume that we should be able to choose candidates who are both. But apparently it's not the case -- otherwise we won't be where we are (so many problems).
