The root of our problems lie in the perversion of our values, not so much as individuals but as a nation. We allowed ourselves collectively to be drawn into an idolatrous web of putting money before people and it’s on the level of that realization that the healing will begin.

Very true! I call it fundamentalist capitalism. I used to like to think that a kind of social capitalism should be possible, but I'm really not sure now.

We didn't. ..the establishment did and does and keeps proving to us that we are totally expendable for their collective comfort . It's socialism for the rich rugged vulture capitalism for the the rest .

Yep. As a country, we deserved exactly what we got. The conditions that resulted in Trump’s America have been brewing for decades. We have an opportunity to choose a different path. I hope that we can rise above all the noise, all the superfluous ego battles and choose progress.

Exactly! It has occurred to me that QANON is a byproduct of a society driven by ruthless explotation just like Covid 19. Trump may be a similar byproduct himself. The chickens are coming home to roost.

When i was a child in the 80s I remember children's books and cartoons about how bad it is to be greedy. I can't even fathom parents teaching that lesson today.

I think it is more that we have allowed ourselves to be drawn into the web of "collective wants" over "individual rights".

The healing begins when all people see each other as equal humans.
