We need to take on the absurd canard that helping people will weaken them, make them dependent or disincentivize them. I’ve thought a lot about what’s given me whatever success I’ve had & I’ve realized main 3 things: 1) someone helped me 2) someone helped me 3) someone helped me.

Absolutely. Without a doubt. This is not an either/or, it’s a both/and. But children have to be set up to win! That’s why I put so much focus on children. You can’t say to someone who has had too little education or opportunity that they “simply have to work harder.”

I couldn’t agree more. I am just trying to figure out how to get that across to someone whose mind is already firm in the belief that help disincentivizes.
