We need to take on the absurd canard that helping people will weaken them, make them dependent or disincentivize them. I’ve thought a lot about what’s given me whatever success I’ve had & I’ve realized main 3 things: 1) someone helped me 2) someone helped me 3) someone helped me.

@marwilliamson It's the result of centuries of "rugged individualism" cultural propaganda. Many won't accept any help if they view it as a "handout" Had healthcare thru a union in the 1960s? "Sure!" Need healthcare thru the gov't in 2020 b/c unions are broken? "No way!"
