We need to take on the absurd canard that helping people will weaken them, make them dependent or disincentivize them. I’ve thought a lot about what’s given me whatever success I’ve had & I’ve realized main 3 things: 1) someone helped me 2) someone helped me 3) someone helped me.

That's great. Now have the audacity to put rules and qualifiers on it so that you help the most people possible in the most effective manner.

You probably also worked very hard. I think that is worth noting when trying to change minds, in this instance.

Absolutely. Without a doubt. This is not an either/or, it’s a both/and. But children have to be set up to win! That’s why I put so much focus on children. You can’t say to someone who has had too little education or opportunity that they “simply have to work harder.”

There's a big difference between a voluntary assistance, where the giver has/forms some kind of personal relationship with the receiver, which the latter has a stake in not spoiling, and formulaic help provided through impersonal gov programs where the redistribution is mandatory

Tell that to the many lazy assholes living on welfare who refuse to get a job or do anything for themselves because they get taxpayers money from the state and federal government.. it's a big difference helping someone achieve something and helping someone who is lazy in life
