How did they do it? They spoke to people’s patriotism. They spoke to people’s heartstrings. They spoke to people’s aspirations. They spoke to America’s founding principles. But all wrapped up in a pack of lies. The key to winning would be to do that too but to wrap it up in truth

Why don’t the Democrats focus on courting Democrats and worry a bit less about courting Republicans? I’m certainly not a genius at math, but that would make sense.

Yes because acknowledging the fact that Republicans are breaking with their party because they can't in conscience vote for Trump so they're voting Democrat is a bad thing.

That’s a good thing of course. Also the work of the Lincoln Project etc. But the Democratic convention spent more time highlighting Republicans than it did highlighting whole swaths of Democrats & their issues.

Amen! Ask what do “I” get for my vote? Other than seeing Trump move out. That’s small potatoes.
Personally, I'm not their base. I don't brunch. I'm too exhausted at the end of the day to drink wine and I only clutch my grandmothers pearls when I make sure they're still around my neck. My political POV (M4A, GND ect) threatens their gravy train. Why would they want me?
