1/ I think the younger you are the more you know certain things and the older you are the more you know certain other things. I think the older ones among us are keepers of the story, and sometimes knowing the stories of the past can inspire or comfort us in the present.

2/ So here’s a story from the past I want to share with you. I know it because I was there. They killed JFK. The tears flowed, but we survived. They killed Martin. The tears flowed, but we survived. They killed Bobby. The tears flowed, but we survived.

3/ They killed students at Kent State. The tears flowed, but we survived. They sent our friends and loved ones to an unjust war, and they killed our leaders. The tears flowed, but we survived. I have faith that is born of experience: our tears are flowing now, but we will survive
