This is important, but the fundamental changes need to go deeper. We shouldn’t be okay with simply making an unjust system less unjust.
The Senate needs to immediately pass the legislation I introduced with @SenSanders and @SenWarren to abolish qualified immunity for law enforcement officers once and for all.

Not until; WHAT IS THE STANDARD FOR HOW POLICE should respond to attacks, physically resisting arrest or imminent danger with a weapon ? How many situations would be avoided if people “obey civilian authority and don’t attack or resist police ?

Politics is the art of the possible. But in your defense when I worked on an MCH project in the Sudan, there were those who argued that shifting tradition from severe forms of #FGM to less severe forms should be commended. I (& any self-respecting feminist) cannot but disagree.

You know that qualified immunity is just for civil lawsuits, right? Getting rid of it will allow ambulance-chasing attornies to buy a vacation home. It won't change much else.

I agree 100% ... the whole idea police and policing in America ... needs to be looked at in a totally new way!

Some immunity could go BUT so should the immunity Extended to prosecutors & politicians. No one should be immune from repercussions for bad acts.

Yes we also need to end sovereign immunity for the government. Laws need to apply to everyone equally
