The problem is not that a bunch of corporate CEOs sit around thinking about ways to hurt people or planet, because they don’t; the problem is that they don’t think it’s their job to have to think about it one way or the other. That’s how an amoral system produces immoral results.

The Priority is Profit. If the Corporate CEO doesn't produce a Profit at the end of Every Quarter, he's fired. Famous Chicago Business School Professor Milton Freeman said, if a Corporate Ceo develops a Social Conscience, he should be fired immediately.

Also note: Friedman said none of it would work without a Universal Basic Income in the form of a negative income tax.

I disagree. At some point places like Wal-Mart/Amazon realized they wouldn't need to pay for employee health care if workers never reached full time hourly status. Company/nationwide whole segments of workers were staffed to work 32 or less hours a week. Very hurtful actions.

No disagreement there at all. Sort of my point. The false god of short term stockholder value as opposed to consideration for all stakeholders involved: workers, environment, country.

Incentives work. There is no way morality will ever overcome profit unless you force companies to define profit to include environmental impact - by taxing specific harmful processes and practices. CEO's would be falling over themselves to be green. It's not hard to do.

I did. Today we focus on the individual at the expense of the collective, but communism focuses on the collective at the expense of the individual. Both are wrong.
