What Republicans and some Democrats call “far left” refers to policies (free healthcare, etc) that in most European countries are considered mainstream and moderate. In those countries, our slavish devotion to trickle down economics is what would be considered extreme.

I respect your desire to help all, but I experienced socialized medicine first hand when I lived in Denmark. Crucial surgeries took 6 plus weeks to take place, no novacaine for a child's tooth pull. Tontills out for sleep walking and apnea considered elective. It will not work.
