What Republicans and some Democrats call “far left” refers to policies (free healthcare, etc) that in most European countries are considered mainstream and moderate. In those countries, our slavish devotion to trickle down economics is what would be considered extreme.

Not just European countries, we have universal healthcare in Canada, although it's a fight to keep it as our Conservatives, like your Dems & GOP, keep trying to allow private provides to profit off of our ill just like they do in the US.
As a socialist, I am in the real centre. It's just that the US is full of extremely far-right leadership.

Trickle down is a masochist ideology when embraced by those at the bottom. Conversely, sociopathy is clearly evident in the elite. Bezos thinking best use of $ is space travel while 70,000 die from lack of health insurance & people think he's insightful. Crazy.

Yes. A friend who has dual citizenship in Denmark & the US has let me know this. Higher education is free for all citizens of Denmark.

Been watching "Rita" on Netflix. Set in Denmark. Fascinating look into the socialist paradigm and a nice escape from the desperation and want that is the USA every minute of every day.

It's not free healthcare though. Our taxes will bear the brunt. I know how this works. Let's talk about how we can cut wasteful spending and use those freed tax dollars to do this. I don't think adding more tax is ok when we have tax money already that isn't being used properly
