What Republicans and some Democrats call “far left” refers to policies (free healthcare, etc) that in most European countries are considered mainstream and moderate. In those countries, our slavish devotion to trickle down economics is what would be considered extreme.

Fox constantly calls putting people before capital Un-American by calling it Marxism, though, never explaining it quite that way. So the American way they defend must be putting profit before anything else. No wonder we have no domestic tranquility, righteous goals of founders.
