I don’t see it the same way. For too long America has been able to look away from such things. There are many times in history where a change has occurred only when enough people actually saw something and felt something. No one can see that video and not see it and feel it.

That’s the thing though. We shouldn’t be putting Black people through even more trauma just so that we can show white people their humanity. If they’re not going to feel it without a video, at this point, that’s on them. The movement goes on.

The more of them that get it though, the quicker the movement reaches critical mass.

They already get it. They simply do not care.

Do you need to see the pedo’s home movies to believe it happened? We don’t need to consume more videos of Black people being killed to know it happens rampantly in the US. It IS a critical matter right now this very minute, and it has been for a very long time #BlackLivesMatter

How are you still not getting this? 100s of Black people tweeting at you that it's harmful, yet you are a white woman deciding you know better? If you must view it to have empathy, do so privately. Don't share it publicly. AND if white people don't get it yet, how will this help?

This mindset is very privileged and tonedeaf. You need to listen to what black Americans are saying rather than trying to explain something over the experience and trauma that is theirs to know. Your interjections are coming off as very anti-black.

If they don’t get it by now Marianne, they never will. More importantly they don’t want to get it.
But we’re not getting it. There have been countless murders recorded and gone viral and still nothing changes. The least we can do is take our cues from the people who are actually impacted by these murders.

Stubbornly refusing to LISTEN to those most deeply impacted by this proves how much this is about ego for you. A true healer would listen and care not contradict and continue to harm people. This is not your time to lecture. Listen and follow the lead of those directly harmed.

When Black people tell you something is harmful, shut up and listen to them. Don't talk over them to explain why you disagree.

But it's hurting the people that it's supposed to be helping. Saving white folks from their racist selves shouldn't be at the cost of the victims.
