So let’s get clear. When the Proud Boys came to attack Left wing protesters, the police stayed away & didn’t intervene. But after the Proud Boys and their ilk left, the protesters who remained were told that they’re involved in an unlawful assembly and the police came after them?

I’ve been to many of the protests between out of town Proud Boys and Portland counter protesters. The cops usually (but not this time) stand with their backs to the PB and point their guns at the CP/citizens of Portland. You really have to see it to believe it. They don’t hide it

The police and the proud boys are the same people

Yes. And this type of response by PPB is why people here are still out protesting every night.

Likely you’re talking about peaceful protesters, however insistent in gaining attention, blocking traffic AKA commerce. Nothing blocks commerce like a General Strike. Check out about the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike in Walrus Magazine, took place during last major pandemic
This is literally how cops have operated our entire lives.

Same way Muslims got blamed and arrested by the police (controlled by the Hindutva nationalist BJP) trying to protect themselves from the recent pogroms against them in Delhi, India which were organized by the same party. Victim blaming is a fine art for the right wing.
