My sperm donor repeatedly raped me for years. My mother refused to believe me and would send me to his house on his weekends for years. Would you tell me he's "still my dad" regardless of the abuse? "Still my mom" regardless? You've a lot to learn.

Telling someone who has said she’s being abused “she’s still your mom” is dismissive and devaluing. When people speak out about abuse, becoming an apologist for the abuser is the worst of all possible takes. “Love” is an action. So is “abuse.” They’re not mutually exclusive.
