my mother’s job ruined my life to begin with. heartbreaking that she continues to go down that path after years of watching her children suffer. selfish. it’s all about money and fame, ladies and gentlemen.

I don’t agree with your mother politically, Claudia, but she’s still your mom. I promise you your life ahead will be better if you handle your issues with her privately. I’m sure she’d go to counseling with you, if you don’t already. Love has got to trump politics. It just has to

It is okay to distance yourself from toxic family. If one member is abusive, counseling is not advised.

poor choice of words: "trump politics"
Marianne: I have great admiration for you as a professional and teacher. Your advice is undoubtedly correct from a psychological standpoint for a mother/daughter relationship, but this situation is far from usual and I also admire Claudia's courage to speak out..
Oh come on lady. Mom & dad were on different sides of Donald so there was that conflict & the young lady does not like Trump. This is something that was building up over the last 4 yrs & finally came to a head. I admire her for doing the only thing she felt would work.
Your next to final sentence is a winner but how can you include Trump with love? I’m just sayin. Have you ever read or heard about “Mommy Dearest”?
Baaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Not true. Claudia’s mother is publicly hurting and embarrassing her. This is not a compassionate mother daughter relationship. Claudia needs to save herself and it sure looks like she is doing an awesome job of it. The best she can.
