1/ The main conduit of wealth inequality is unfair tax policy. For the last 40 years we’ve been transferring wealth into the hands of a few through increasingly reduced taxes for top earners as well as corporate subsidies and financial deregulation.

2/ With the 2017 $2 Trillion tax cut, 83 cents of every dollar went to the very richest people. The idea that any of that money is “trickling down” and “lifting all boats” is like a sick joke now; it has left and is leaving tens of millions of people without even a life vest.

Our tax policy has always been about incentives to do right things. Paying state and local tax, home ownership/mortgage interest, charity, Investing and owning stocks, setting money aside for retirement

Exactly, began with actor Ronald Reagan! Our parents in the 60s and 70s had much more fair taxation, we have never recovered from Reagan! @marwilliamson

The rich pay much more than their “fair share” of taxes already. Lay off!

Was there a poll or study that found that something like 10% of Americans thought they were in the 1% and another bunch (20% or ?) thought they’d be in the 1% within 5 years? I’ve been trying to recall where I read that.

actually the main conduit of wealth inequality is human nature. Different people have different talents and different levels of willingness to produce the hard work or take the risks to obtain wealth. Never forget the natural state of man is poor & starving at subsistence level

The main conduits are racism and sexism. Minority women get the double barrel assualt!
Yes, the criminal tactics of rob, lie and steal from the top 1%. Latest heist, the big pandemic of 2020. Taxes, yes, but, then, they create the con to steal the taxes!

Nope...monetarism and fed policy created the explosion in inequality...not taxation
