Even before the pandemic 40% of Americans would’nt have been able to absorb a $400 unexpected expenditure. That should have been seen as a national emergency yet political and media reports were that the economy was “good.”Good for whom, of course! Good for those at the very top.

I partially agree with this. Although, Use of money - focus on new cars, big flat screens, expensive cable packages, credit card debt, etc, etc explains a lot of money waste in middle and low income families.

Our priorities need to change ... if they don't ... this country will eventually explode! ... I agree ... that if we put money into our children ... in 15 years we will have a changed society ... and a changed Country!

I grew up poor first generation American to immigrants. Worked my ass off, skipped buying new for used, sacrificed, saved, finished education, it wasn’t easy but it can be done.

“Good” meaning I went from living paycheck to paycheck to being able to put a sizable amount of my income in my 401k in the past 3 years, despite the hit my paycheck took when my insurance costs doubled due to ACA a few years earlier.

We constantly gauge our societies by their economic output. And we gauge the economic output by how well the top tier of people are doing. It's wrong and sick.

The Republican Party has over the years stripped workers' rights in order to garner the favor of large rich donors. Now we are stuck with the results and they refuse to help the people they screwed over.
