Even before the pandemic 40% of Americans would’nt have been able to absorb a $400 unexpected expenditure. That should have been seen as a national emergency yet political and media reports were that the economy was “good.”Good for whom, of course! Good for those at the very top.

When a large portion of Americans work 40 hrs a week and still have to figure out which bills can be put off until next month so that they can eat this month, what monies are they expected to save? The price of everything has gone up but wages have remained mostly stagnant
How can you save when health and dental expenses cost three months wages in a year? You have insurance and the co pays and out of network Bullshit eats you alive.

Outlier incomes over twice the poverty line shouldn't be counted. Legislation has almost no affect on them, just their profit margin. F*k em. What's the NET domestic product look like after that? If I don't get to pocket my gross income why should the country?

While i sympathize with your POV, i have to point out a large number of people are "keeping up w/ the jones" via debt--many of those w/ out $400 are spending loosely & not saving. I see it every day.

I don't think her math is right I think that should be higher around 60 % and 80 % live paycheck to paycheck.

Our corrupt politicians lack moral fiber and compassion. These should be two major qualifications to hold the job of a public servant. We need to #DefundCongress and start all over again.

Yeah, it's been like that for over 20 years. It also causes people to stay in abusive marriages because they can't afford to live on their own. There's been a steady rise in homelessness because of this, too. Are politicians really just finding out about this? C'mon! Really?

Well said Marriage. And thanks for this prayer direction.
