Helping people who are in trouble does not weaken them, it strengthens them. And the stronger people are the more creative and productive they become. Withholding resources from people in need is a passive form of oppression.

But you can’t help people who have no drive or motivation to be or do better. They have to want it

I agree, and the Course's view of empathy is relevant here as well: identifying with and supporting other's strengths, not their weakened and false views of themselves. We are all equal beings under God.
