I had my best friend unthinkingly spout the Republican line of, why pay them $600 when they earn less a week anyhow. My reply to that was "who cares!" If $600 a week would save a precious individual life, it is worth it!

How is that helpful? It’s not enough to understand a problem if you are a leader. You must be able to communicate and IMO that’s lacking in what I’ve seen in you so far. I only know the public you but you always leave me smh for real.

It’s not “covertly” among Democrats. It’s very, very overt in right-wingers like Biden/Harris. They are a pure an example as can be found of the elitists you speak of. If you vote Biden/Harris you are deliberately protecting and reinforcing the very problem you speak of.

You’re right, and that aversion to government helping people sadly runs deep in our history. In 1905, SCOTUS imposed that aversion as a constitutional principle—beyond the reach of Congress—in Lochner v New York. It remained the law until West Coast Hotel v Parrish in 1937.
