Republican Party has more elitist policies but an oddly more egalitarian relationship to its own constituency. Democratic Party has more egalitarian policies but an oddly more elitist relationship to its own constituency. I hope that changes over the next three to four days.

Can you go into more detail? A blog post is fine. Both parties are equally willing to let their own voters die in large numbers, I'm not sure where the egalitarian part comes from.

Intrigued by this observation. Perhaps it’s a humbleness/ pride dynamic? For ex, when people try to do great things, it’s easy to slip too far into pride; & then competitiveness & jealousy won’t be far behind. These three things could make for elitist-feeling relationships.

Perhaps it’s because egalitarian policies require an immensely strong central authority to ensure equality among everyone else

It's been true for years. If the GOP had anywhere near the contempt the Democrats do for their own base, they'd have rigged their candidate in 2016 just like the Dems did. But they didn't. They still have that much respect for the will of the people.

We are in the worse health crisis and our democracy is peril. Time to read the country - seriously. 2020 Is not the year for this BS at our convention. No whining - unity. We need to remove Trump. Focus and fortitude.
