1/ When all of this is over - when we get the criminal out of the White House - we will begin a new conversation about this country, what it means to us and what it should mean for the world.

2/ Having come so close to the cliff, nearly losing something we had taken for granted was an eternal guarantee, we will be filled with a spirit of humility and thanksgiving that will reinvent the United States.

3/ We’ll have been humbled, which we desperately need; we’ll have been chastened, which we deserve to be; & our attitudes will be readjusted from ambition to inspiration, from goals of profit to goals of goodness. As profound as our descent, so profound will be our transformation

The left began this conversation long ago, Marianne, yet nobody would listen. The left has been talking about the meaning of life, what it means to be an American, and how that meaning should be conveyed to the rest of the world. The left has been screaming this for years.

How about we just elect officials willing to live up to the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights? What you are planning to replace Trump with will not do that. They will not fix the system. They are corrupt as well! This “he is evil and we are pure” is childish!

If the Democrats win this election, do you really believe there will be a "new conversation" about this country?? Joe "nothing will fundamentally change" Biden!!

Yes but the growth & humility will be on the Left & those who supported Trump till the end will feel none of those things. They will just feel more angry & will crawl back into their holes until the next opportunity to rise up. I hope I’m wrong but my usual optimism is lacking.

What it means to me is to be able to walk in my city without fear. Not happening now.
