When something is illegal but done anyway, when all statutes and investigative agencies are clear about that (and the Trump administration would have known it was illegal), what happens now? From DHS to USPS, that’s what’s happening. How will the law be enforced and by whom?
The @USGAO has ruled that Cuccinelli and Wolf are serving in their positions at DHS illegally. These men, who led the deployment of secret police to Portland and helped Trump separate families at the border, never had any legal basis to be in these roles to begin with.

It says in bold letters, on the first line, that it is an OPINION. (not a ruling). You really can't take anyone's word as true. You can flag Jeff Merkley as "not credible", for future reference.

Actually, you should have a better handle on that question than us.

Start thinking about a new system of checks and balances to combat this retrogression. Business as usual through two centuries of incrementalism is not working anyone. old.reddit.com/r/politics/commen…

I have often stated the same, using different prose. In short, we have abandoned the Rule of Law, and our institutions are corrupted and hollowed out. Maybe beyond repair. What is left is mob rule.

I wouldn't bet on the Democrats to stand up to Trump. They seem to believe the military will usher Trump out. They fear the working class way more than a Bonapartist dictatorship. They could deal with the devil incarnate if required. Maybe a Horthy government would frighten them.

Google President Obama and GAO. Apparently nothing happens.

We’re down to either chaining ourselves to mailboxes, firing up the revolution prematurely, or getting an injunction. I’ve tweeted the @ACLU & some electeds today to urge a petition for injunctive relief. Nada. But LTribe says there is plenty of legal standing.
This gives each of those 46 states standing to seek judicial relief from an Article III court: it directly and immediately threatens their ability to have their legislatures perform their Article II function in accord with 3 USC. washingtonpost.com/local/md-…
