1/Re-opening schools before we have the virus under control is immoral and insane. We’re exposing American families to danger for no other reason than to serve the sacred cow of an economy that doesn’t really work for them anyway. #SupportKidsAndTeachers

2/ I realize many parents need their children to go back to school so that they can get back to work, but that’s due to an economic desperation they shouldn’t be experiencing. Every American should receive $2k/mo. for as long as the pandemic lasts, much like every other democracy

Yes, parents need to work, but what's more important is children need to be educated. We're going to have a gap in education because the children aren't in school.

I am a mom, and telling me my child might have a few months off from learning geography & math is 1000 times less worrisome than telling me she’s going to be in a petri dish of a deadly virus every day,

I don’t want any parents or teachers to get sick or die from school reopenings, and I don’t have any children to worry about. I’m just wondering why so many doctors, who don’t appear to have any political agenda, say it’s better for children to be in school.

One reason (or excuse) I saw was that teachers can see when children are being abused at home, so it’s safer for children to go to school.

1/Child abuse in America cries out for a significant solution. I’ve been talking about it for years & the political establishment wasn’t tending to it in meaningful ways. Millions of children have been invisible sufferers.

2/ Now all of a sudden they want the schools to open, so they pretend child abuse is their issue? The solution to child abuse is not to send children into classrooms that are basically a petri dish of a deadly disease. That’s just trading one form of child abuse for another.

Good point, but what is the real agenda of these supposedly politically neutral doctors?

Most scientists have expressed deep concern about sending kids back to school too quickly. The truth is that we don’t know if it’s safe, we’re taking a big risk here, & children aren’t a group we should be willing to risk. Trump just wants it so people can get back to work.

Both of my kids finished their last semester online.Until this is under control or there is a vaccine, common sense says that’s the way to go..It’s disturbing that human lives are being considered collateral damage. Our educators must take a stand on this
