Why is it optional for parents and students but not for teachers? I teach middle school. I have a dog in this fight.

Conversely we’re all totally cool with the decrease in child abuse reports (because kids are locked in with their abuser with no teacher to help advocate for them,) and their lack of food w/no school lunch, also the increase of suicide in middle and high school students.

What is Herd immunity? What do the metrics look like? What are the risks to school age children in a time of herd immunity? What do doctors and scientists tell us about the current risk of infection, transmission and disease in children? Should we understand science or politics
