Americans are now pathologically habituated to asking “Pretty please?” for things that can literally mean the difference between life and death, from a system that’s pathologically habituated to telling them no as often as it says yes. And only the people can change this.

That depends on who you are. This country says yes to a lot of people -I know because it has said yes to me. The problem is that it says yes to a shrinking number of people, and no to an increasing number of people. So we need to turn that around.

It’s just a point in the journey. Sometimes it’s two steps forward and one step backwards, sometimes one step forward and two steps backwards, but we’re not screwed permanently unless we throw up our hands.
