Americans are now pathologically habituated to asking “Pretty please?” for things that can literally mean the difference between life and death, from a system that’s pathologically habituated to telling them no as often as it says yes. And only the people can change this.

If you are abused for long enough you can start to believe somehow you deserve it. You don’t. None of us do. Being treated as inferior and made to beg for what others take for granted and won’t share is a form of abuse. What we believe about ourselves is critical. It’s a choice
