1/Re-opening schools before we have the virus under control is immoral and insane. We’re exposing American families to danger for no other reason than to serve the sacred cow of an economy that doesn’t really work for them anyway. #SupportKidsAndTeachers

2/ I realize many parents need their children to go back to school so that they can get back to work, but that’s due to an economic desperation they shouldn’t be experiencing. Every American should receive $2k/mo. for as long as the pandemic lasts, much like every other democracy

Here’s reasons why many people don’t care. Risk is low, CDC says kids must go back, protests have been happening constantly with no condemnation, 4 fully attended funerals for George Floyd and multiple for John Lewis. Again no condemnation. What point would be safe for you?

How many educators realize that they have the entire power-structure of American capital at their immediate command? If there was a widespread, coast-to-coast teachers’ STRIKE then the political and economic elite would have no choice but to meet their every demand immediately.

And to add to that. It WON'T HELP the economy. Experts point out that remaining shut down and doing our best to support families and businesses financially until it is safe is what helps the economy. Opening schools or anything else too soon is endangering lives for NO REASON.

Our county schools opened today, even though the numbers suggested a hybrid model at best. It's been said by others in the community that they're wanting the 20 day count numbers so they get their funding. Disgusting! And I used to teach there.
