The countries safely re-opening their schools are countries that have gotten the virus under control. We clearly have not. Our children and teachers should not be guinea pigs in a risky experiment yet school districts are being told they won’t receive money if they don’t re-open.

The risk is too high. Our children are too precious. Our teachers are too valued. We cannot...We must not open the schools.

Is the first time I’ve ever seen the US government threaten to defund schools if parents don’t risk their kids lives. What the fuck?

Yet the RNC cancels the Convention, not safe. Let high profile friends of Donny out of jail, not safe.

Marianne, there are children going to summer school in Detroit, in-person, right now . . .

Makes you wonder why schools should be federally funded. Why does the government have such control?

Agreed! Hell, give them an extra year off! I'm sure they deserve a break. Anyone who is a parent already knows that their child brings literally everything home from school! A cold is one thing, but this corona virus is entirely another and far more dangerous. Keep the kids home!

I feel for all the families and teachers involved. In Australia we didn’t open schools until the virus was controlled. An outbreak has returned and schools with infected staff or students are shut. We also pay the needy so they don’t starve. Shouldn’t lives come first?
