Forces of brute force brought tear gas & rubber bullets & pepper spray; the people of Portland brought their bodies, their conviction & their courage. Last night they gathered in communal celebration with chants and commemoration and drum circles. Soul force is a real thing.

What about the people who burned a severed head of a pig wearing a police hat? Are they soulful too? Or the ones that threw a commercial firework onto an officer, burning his arms? Or the one that used a mallet to hit an officer's head, causing concussion? All peaceful, soulful?

Such things aren’t really organized so much as they unfold organically from higher aspirations inside us. People don’t need to be told that oppression is wrong, it must be stood up to & that our purpose on the earth is to love one another. It’s something we all know in our hearts
