Evil is never “necessary.” What is “necessary” is that people stand up to it.

By the way, Sen. Cotton’s read on American history is ridiculous. Those who thought slavery was evil did not think it was necessary, and most of those who thought it was necessary tried to say it wasn’t evil.

You’re being disingenuous, as usual. You went from being a spiritual leader to a political hack. Are you proud?

Tom Cotton saying that slavery was a "necessary evil" sounds a helluva lot like Nazis who justified their heinous crimes by saying "I was just following orders." Evil is NEVER necessary.

Whatever @SenTomCotton summarizations are, we all know what is right and what is wrong. You want to end protests, then acknowledge our wrongs. You want to move America forward, then be kind, just and compassionate to her people. #Reparations

Without allowing its continuation in Carolina and Georgia those two colonies would have been lost. The United States would never have been born.

You are missing the point: it was “necessary” as a means of keeping the United States intact. Those who thought it was evil valued national unity more than they valued justice for the enslaved. It was a compromise that they agreed not to address for 20 years.

Sen. Cotten did not get beaten, no slave had the right to speak about it being “evil” it happened and it was evil, and It was necessary. We have the evil Republican Party. And they are not necessary
