Violence is never a good thing, but protests are often a good thing. Our founders protected the right to protest for good reason. Treating peaceful protesters as though they are rioters undermines a sacred first principle of our freedom. pbs.org/newshour/show/portla…

If 90% of it is peaceful but the other 10% isn’t should the police just let the other 10% destroy anything they want

No. But on the other hand, it's the presence of the feds to begin with that is bringing it all to such a frenzy. Before they got there, the problem was being dissipated. Their presence has CAUSED more violence!

"Peaceful protest" is a thing of the past, because it doesn't work. Power doesn't yield to polite requests. Nothing changed until strategic violence started getting their attention. This is moving from protest, to civil unrest, to civil insurrection. A tipping point, right now.

History absolutely reports otherwise. From the Indian Independence movement to the Women's Suffragette movement to the Civil Rights movement, peaceful protest changed the world.

An unnecessary stain on our democracy.

If you’re in the middle of a riot after dark; you’re a rioter.
You still calling them peaceful protests? Bro, stop. Seriously. youtube.com/lgDoO-TGHYs

At what point does a peaceful protester turn into a rioter? That is a problem. Where is the line between who should be aloud to stay and protest, and how to single out rioters/violent bad actors?
ATTENTION! Lots of Portland protesters are reporting severe symptoms of tear gas poisoning. See a thread by @Amy_Siskind. We need to back off and figure a safer way to resist Trump's fascists b/c we're heading for a massive health crisis of tear gas poisoning.
