1/ When I was young and we were protesting the Vietnam war etc., there was a sense that the Democratic Party was the establishment arm of the counterculture.

You apparently don’t realize that Social Security was an idea that came from the Socialist Party.

The way you do "comebacks" is very defensive. It's like you aren't interested in looking at the complexities of an issue if you can point to one good thing that the thing you are defending is linked to, and that's very disappointing

Britain kept their colonial states poor so they would be beholden to Britain. In my opinion social policies have been used in the same way by US lawmakers. Always woefully short and never providing a way out but instead making it difficult to climb out of poverty.

What? Marianne 🤦‍♀️ Do you think this is a sufficient response to nearly 100 years of having our movements stolen by Democrats? That they did some things? You know the new deal was anti-socialist sheepdogging, right? A tiny concession so they can keep owning the world.

Is that sufficient, Marianne? Is it just? Has it been applied in a way which keeps elderly and disabled people out of poverty? Has it liberated the people?
