1/ When I was young and we were protesting the Vietnam war etc., there was a sense that the Democratic Party was the establishment arm of the counterculture.

2/ Today, in too many cases that’s changed. When right wing populists do their thing, the Republican party embraces them. But when left wing populists do their thing, corporate Democrats say “We don’t know those people.”

3/ That leaves too many people feeling they have no voice within the political system, and the Democratic Party frustrated that more people aren’t using electoral politics as a vehicle of change.

4/ The Republican party has more elitist policies but an oddly more egalitarian relationship to its own constituency. The Democratic Party has more egalitarian policies but an oddly more elitist relationship to its own constituency. This needs to change.

The pendulum will swing back in the opposite direction ... It's a law ... the key is ... after it does ... to keep it there ... and that takes consciousness and effort!

If the Democrats primary were open in 2016 and the GOP primary was closed around Jeb Bush, Donald Trump would have run as a Democrat and still won the presidency. The dem establishment would be nevertrumpsers and the GOP would have TDS.

What is really disheartening to me is that the dem elites are welcoming with fervor and joy disaffected repubs but shunning us "Bernie Bros"! So what we see now is two repub parties and no home for democratic values. The GOP may seem to be losing, but it is gaining!

Marianne plz consider casting off the shackles of the uniparty and endorse Jo Jorgensen. Your desire for Peace and her desire to make America neutral are very compatible. The Dem party cannot be salvaged under Biden and Pelosi

Pro tip, there is one party and then there is a show. If big money is involved everyone agrees. If help for every day ppl involved no one is there

Party leadership responds better to well funded lobbying than to grassroots pressure, hence the constant shift to the right of the democratic party.

That's the story of the 2016 nominations.
Trump's nomination: The people have bested the GOP establishment Hillary's nomination: DEM establishment has bested the people #BernieOrBust
