I ask myself several times a day if we could possibly be overreacting, if we’re mistaken to so vigorously and passionately reject the presence of those troops in American cities. But the answer comes back to me loud and clear: this is the line they must not be allowed to cross.

What’s the alternative? Sustained chaos?

The citizens of Portland do not call what is happening there “sustained chaos.” And it is up to the governmental and law-enforcement leaders of Oregon to handle this. The president is not responding to chaos; the president is causing chaos.

The citizens of Portland with a grasp on reality are calling these riots. The mayor, governor, and "protestors" are lying. The black community denounced these protests weeks ago. It's bored white people who like to break stuff.

How is the President causing chaos? You and your party must live in a opposite universe! You have lost your mind!

I disagree on all counts. Federal law allows for DHS to protect public property. And protesters and rioters wreaked havoc in Portland for two months before the feds stepped in. Where does it end?

And the mayhem continues. Your response now? Where and how does it end?
Fire at federal building. Stampede feels imminent
How could continued chaos and violence possibly be the higher thought? How about the small businesses that are affected?
I'm in Portland and she is correct. Nightly, protests here are non-violent. There is some graffiti and statues being destroyed. The Feds are creating violence and chaos. They have also caused more people to attend the protests. Trump is a liar. Backing down now is a bad idea.
