1/ One of the mistakes on the Left is that we’ve allowed others to control the narrative, largely by surrendering the use of basic words like patriotism, tyranny, freedom & morality. We tell the facts, or explain our experience, often without framing them enough.

So let’s be clear: 1) We’re standing up to the police invasion of American cities because it’s TYRANNY. 2) We’re doing so because we’re PATRIOTIC. 3) We’re doing so because we LOVE OUR FREEDOM and 4) To do nothing in the face of injustice is IMMORAL.

"Facts" and "Left" is oxymoronic.

To much political correctness ... As Marianne says ... "WE NEED TO TELL IT LIKE IT IS"

What about surrendering basic words like "woman?"

To be fair, I think we’re also guilty of capturing our own set of verbiage that we should move on from and release back into the wild. If for no other reason than the fact that it isn’t landing. Generally though, I think most of our discourse is mislabeled.

If by patriotism you mean you want your country to do the right thing, OK, but if you mean national pride, I don’t wake up in the morning thinking “I’m so proud of my country”. It’s where I was born and where I’m used to living. I don’t believe in American exceptionalism.

100%. But you missed the most egregious: letting corporate, neoliberal establishment Dems call themselves "moderate" when their policies cost trillions more & will literally kill 10s of 1000s & destroy planet earth or "centrist" when the vast majority favor progressive policies.
