1/ If riots or any other type of emergency is going on in a state, a governor can ask for federal help. If they don’t, it’s because they don’t believe the situation warrants it.

2/ Oregon’s governor didn’t ask for help because she didn’t want it, and she & the mayor of Portland have made it clear the federal troops are unwelcome. TBW says they’re rolling out a plan this week to invade other cities as well, where presumably they will be equally unwelcome.

3/ I use the word “invade” deliberately, to counter the false Trump narrative that the federal troops are there to help, to provide “Law & order.” That’s an old political canard. The troops being lawless themselves, they can hardly restore law and order.

4/ In 1963 JFK sent federal troops to Alabama to force George Wallace to desegregate the U of A. So yes, a president can send in troops. But what’s going on now is nothing but tough guy election year theatre. It’s an unneeded dog whistle with illegal behavior by untrained troops.

I’m no Trump fan but @tedwheeler is incompetent. Follow @MrAndyNgo for legit updates on the situation

Totally agree. There would be a lot of dialogue between state and gov if they were there to “help”

These aren’t troops. Most of these are from the smorgasbord of police agencies in the worst Cabinet department, Homeland Security

Repub/Trump love escalating drama & exploiting any situation to draw a clear line between parties. He’s is intentionally allowing the virus to spread, not sure why but if it’s in hopes of getting re-elected, I pray it backfires like the caravan border stunt did in 2016.

As a Texas gal, do you remember LBJ sending in the military when governors failed to enforce desegregation?

On the day you finally meet The Lord God, take some advice. DONT use the above argument to (try) and dismantle Gods Laws. Its way better to ask questions and get answers rather than break laws then spend hard time learning lessons. facebook.com/roy.edmonson.56… , its YOUR CHOICE!
