It cannot be said too many times: The American people have the right to protest. People gathering on a street is not a riot. The destruction of federal property was minimal compared to violence being perpetrated on citizens by federal agents. US cities are not occupied territory.

I think, by now, it is very safe to say people are no longer allowed to exercise their 1st Amendment rights and we live in a Police State. Now it's up to us to decide how to act on that.

The people of Portland are doing just that. Showing up in big numbers and refusing to be violent is the key, because it makes it dramatically clear that any violence is coming from the other side. Prayers for everyone鈥檚 safety.馃檹馃徎
