When all this is over, we need to pass a law that every state require at least half a year’s civics education in middle school or high school on the basics of the US Constitution. It’s terrifying how many Americans seem not to have a clue.

Girl when this is all over we're gonna have to rethink the whole damn thing. It's evolving too fast now. The system has to be fluid or we will all die 🙃 lol

This was required when I was in high school.

It’s intentional, it’s not a mistake. Some states prefer indoctrination to education, and we see that more and more. Add testing and you have precisely what we have here.

When all this is over we will either have a new Constitution or we won't have schools.

I think people of both parties are to blame for the inadequate movement to include a requirement for learning civics education. If you want to live here from another country, you have to learn everything, yet people here no little to nothing. Sad!

I think it should be done in conjunction with a lowering of the voting age, and one of their assignments should be to register to vote, and then write a pass or fail assignment on why they are voting for a candidate in any race. Young people who vote continue to vote.

Liberals won't let it

we actually used to have a semester of civics in middle school but they got rid of it during the Reagan years

Kids pledge allegiance to the flag every day in school, but have little understanding of what it stands for.
