Perhaps we need to teach Civics ... in Elementary School ... then teach how to hold on to a democracy ... in Middle School ... and then ... how to thrive in a democracy ... in High School!

I agree! I graduated in 1987 and I graduated in what is called Academic/ College Prep track for those who were planning on going to school after high school. I was not given civics at all. We need the knowledge of what it means to be a citizen, our rights & our responsibilities.
