When all this is over, we need to pass a law that every state require at least half a year’s civics education in middle school or high school on the basics of the US Constitution. It’s terrifying how many Americans seem not to have a clue.

Yes. People are not interested in policy or how they are applied. People only vote on personality. Its horrible.

Yes, and let's add some true history classes regarding the pillaging of our Indigenous cultures, black enslavement, etc.

I was shocked to discover that not one of my high school aged kids had been taught who Betsy Ross was.

May want to teach the unvarnished version of U.S. History as well.
Let's require that for the president as well. An average middle schooler has a better understanding of the Constitution than our current president.

Remember this quote from the #PodestaEmails? "And as I've mentioned, we've all been quite content to demean government, drop civics and in general conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry" And this was Dems not GOP. We have a problem.

Most states have something of the sort. just that most kids don’t remember the info. Solving many of the systemic issues like homelessness, poverty, gun violence will also helping with information uptake, which will help solve this issue.

As long as it is taught as something that can only survive if every one of us stays engaged and keeps its promises. Too many Americans believe it is written in stone and nothing could ever bring about its extinction.
