I understand that. But military tactics aren’t how domestic policing is supposed to be carried out in the United States, either. And from the beginning of all this they have not just gone after rioters.

Violence and looting are not how protests are supposed to be carried out. If someone in your peaceful protest becomes violent, have the cops remove them and continue in peace.
