Many people remain in abusive relationships because the abuse becomes normalized; they become blind to it or they see no way out. So they acquiesce. Understanding that psychological dynamic is key to understanding what is happening in America today.

Your relationship should make you feel safe, loved and happy-not tense, scared and anxious. People don't realize how much strength it takes to pull your own self out of a poisonous situation with someone you love deeply.

I assume you’re talking about our abusive relationship with politicians. I think I need to point out that our economic system contributes to people staying in abusive relationships. In many states 1 income is not enough for rent & basic expenses.

The most abusive relationships are between employees and employers. Bring #UBI for all.

America has taken the abuse and spun it around to abuse itself. That is where we are currently. Self-flagellation.

Most Americans never travel outside the country—either can’t afford to or choose not to—to see what life is like elsewhere, and they are propagandized to believe life in the US is the best of all possible options. This also feeds into what you’re talking about.

Yes. Exactly! America is a battered wife who would rather die than admit the reality. Much like the people who say you have to vote for Biden.

Exactly. Abusive feudal vulture capitalism posing as democracy.
